While Adolf Hitler certainly was one of the most powerful demagogues in the 20th century, if not history, I wouldn't necessarily call him charismatic. JFK certainly comes to mind when it comes to charisma, the space program and racial integraion being just a few of his achievements. Then there's FDR who held his fireside chats with the American public and held our country together through the Great Depression. And who could possibly forget the negotiating ability and southern charm of Jimmy Carter, who won the Nobel Peace Prize in 2002. Finally, although whether he can be considered a political leader is arguable, there's the late great Martin Luther King Jr. Not only did he win the Nobel Peace Prize and the Presidential Medal of Freedom, but we hold parades in his honor to this day.
In short, I'd have to vote for Matin Luther King Jr.

Buddy Cianci the ex-mayor of Providence, RI. The best politician the world has ever seen. They busted him and he came back and was re-elected. Then they busted him again. What a show, wish you were there. Read the book, you will never see another like him.

I can only speak for my lifetime, but Bill Clinton!! I do not necessarily agree with everything he has done, but he is the first politician I ever listened to a believed he meant what he said. Yes he is not perfect but he is brilliant and does care, look at the work he is doing know. What do you think Jr. will be up to when he is out of office?

Slick Willy Clinton. He managed to be in office for 8 years, riding the wave of Reagan's successes, and not actually doing anything of his own; unless you count weakening our armed forces as something. And yet, everyone seemed to love the guy. His own wife stayed with him after being caught in numerous affairs. That guy could sell ice to an Eskimo.
