I'm choreographing a jazz routine for a 10 year-old to compete with. Any suggestions for songs?

This is a hard one...

I go to competitions and see WAY too many little ones doing dances that are WAY too old for them. I'm sure you know what I mean. Try to stay away from the overplayed songs. I know that the judges HATE to hear the same songs over and over again. Good luck!

You should try
"In the Mood"
It is a peppy and light jazz song that gets the audience entertained. My brother played it in his jazz band and he got a standing ovation.

Hi. How about using Quincy Jones's "Tomorrow" as sung by Tevin Campbell when Tevin was a kid?

"Tomorrow will (be/bring/see) a better u; better me..."

I hope that helps. (The song is considered fusion by jazz purists, but I call it cool, smooth, contemporary jazz.)
