oh YES!! take Barbaro for example--having won many big races plus in the triple crown this horse would have millions of dollars of earnings alone. Plus when he is healthy again-the stud fee for him each time (TWICE DAILY) would be well in the tens of thousands of $$$ for each time! Take that for twice a day for the next 15-25 years....his worth totallly will be far and beyond 35 mil.

yes like fanactic said barbaro is probably worth that much!!!
But truthfully i would prob. never buy a horse worth that much $$$$$ because then there would be boarding, feed, shoing, floating (teeth), shots exc. which would add up 2 about 15,000$ + per year, depending on the horse's health. but yes some "Campion horses" are worth 35 mill.

depends on what you think "worth" means.
there are horses that have won 35 million before, BUT, that does not take into account how much money is put INTO the horses. at the end of their carrer they will have won tons of money but the racing business is so hard on their bodies that they are physically not worth buying for racing purposes

The most expensive Thoroughbred colt sold at public auction in the US was $16 million, this past spring.

Also, one of the highest prices paid for a Thoroughbred was about $60 million for 2000 Kentucky Derby winner Fusaichi Pegasus, purchased by a syndicate of breeders at the end of his racing career.

That being said, the INSURED value on Thoroughbreds can easily surpass $35 million, particularly the studs, because of the potential they have to generate stud fees over the course of their lives:
