Would I be on the right track if I put it in the same basket as 'Parody' or are the connotations of Parody detrimental when applied in this way?

Thanks!

A Pastiche is a novel that is based off of another one ... another side or a continuation of another novel, but the Pastiche is written much later and by a different author. An example of one is the book Wide Sargasso Sea, which was the story of the crazy woman in Bronte's Jane Eyre. It was written a hundred years after Jane Eyre.
