Yes, Nicolas Cage is an Academy Award-winning actor, director, and producer. He won the Oscar for best actor for "Leaving Las Vegas".

Nicolas Cage is a brilliant actor from my point of view. He is the nephew of Francis Ford Cappola, but never used his famous uncle to gain roles, hence Cage not Cappola as his last name.
In The Rock(1996) with Sean Connery was a great performance.{One of my fave. N./C. movies.
Con Air(1997) another great movie with 2 other great stars--John Cussak & John Malkovich.
Windtalkers (2002) with another of my faves.--Christian Slater.
Gone in 60 seconds(2000) with the lovely Angelina Jolie.{ Daughter of John Voight.}
Face Off(1997) with another great actor--John Travolta.
These are some of my most fav. N./Cage movies.

Nicolas Cage is a brilliant actor. I just saw him today in World Trade Center. He is excellent in whatever role he undertakes. I am anxious to see Wickerman as well.

I think he's a very good actor. But, beyond that, he's an absolutely FEARLESS actor, which you have to admire. He always takes big chances in his performances, and he goes places that a lot of actors, frankly, would be afraid to go. Sometimes it works brilliantly, such as his portayal of an alcoholic's self-destructive tailspin in "Leaving Las Vegas," and sometimes it's INCREDIBLY weird, such as his performance in "Vampire's Kiss." But, whether he's awful or wonderful, he's always flying without a net.

Hmmm...that's a tough one. Compare his performances in let's say...Raising Arizona to umm...Conair. Raising Arizona - genius. Conair - embarrassingly horrible. I'd say he should stay away from tough guy roles and stick to the comedies. He has talent, just needs better decision making skills when it comes to movies.

i think he can be. he's made some bombs where it seemed like he was just going through the motions (conair, terrible southern accent). but i thought his performance in adaptation was totally oscar worthy. i think it really depends which movie you watch. he is a talented actor he just doesn't always show it.
