Absolutely. Positively. And they do. I do this every day as part of my job as an IT administrator.

If they have a firewall of a proxy server, ever use of the Internet is recorded and tracable. Companies have to do it because if somewhere were to use their servers to commit a crime, harass someone, etc., the company could be sued for not preventing it. I have seen if more than once.

Now, do they actually look at the information? Not normally. Unless there is a specific reason to monitor an employee, a company will usually not bother with it.

But it is recorded and, if the company wanted to, it could be used against you.

It really depends how big of a company you work for. A small company would be less likely to keep logs of employee activity than a larger one. On the other hand, at a large company, they're probably not going to have time to take a peek at what every employee is doing. They probably wouldn't look at your logs unless there was some reason, like you're not getting your work done, or there's a massive drain on system resources that they're tracing to you.

Either way, just assume that your employer can tell what you're doing online. Because they can.

In most cases yes. Most workplaces now employ sophisticated tracking tools that will tell them everything about your surfing habits, even if you clean the internet history. Assume that anything you do at work or on a work computer is being monitored.

It all depends on the sophistication of the network and the servers that your office uses.
All servers keep a log of user activities. They can only be accessed by the network adminstrators. Your safest bet is to do nothing even remotely questionable while at work and save your fun stuff for when you get home.

they can, and it isnt difficult either. most offices run off of a central server and the data is stored there, not on your computer. also, if your computers are networked for filesharing, etc. tthe internet files are duplicated on a central location and from there to the other computers. also, most companies have trakers on their pc's to trak websites their emplayees get on anyway.

yes, very easily, they can track every site you view, everything you download and how much time you spend on the internet. They can track EVERYTHING. Being in the I.T. business, it's been my experience that only larger companies do this, smaller ones usually don't.

Yes, because they can look at their servers and see what IP address visited which sites.
