sonic youth is a definite...kim gordon just kicks ass...someone also suggested peaches...they arent exactly angry, but their lyrics are obscene (but in a good way)
pj harvey is another suggestion...she has a very cat-like voice and the subject matter behind her lyrics is very good.
nico is another strong female vocalist...her voice is very macabre/dramatic.
the raveonettes has a female vocalist as well

By all means, if you're interested in angry girl bands, you must check out The Gore Gore Girls. They're from Detroit, dress like The Shirelles but sound like the angriest garage band ever. Try songs lik e"You Lied To Me Before."

What about Shirley Manson or Liz Phair? I know Liz Phair has kind of gone mainstream, but IMHO she still rocks! Shirley Manson is the lead singer of Garbage.
