they travel pretty fast if they want to. and if you find it in a week, it won't be dead. they can live very well without food or water.

They travel quite fast for their size and dependging on what species of land hermit crab he could more very fast.

One pice of advice that has worked int he past, look up. They are tree crabs and love to climb, so check the curtians up under the bed spread and even up underneath furniture. They will seek our dark corners and places including crevices of furniture and architechtural areas/items.

You can place a kritter keep on it's side with food, de-chlor water and a coco-hut and he may find his way back to that familiar place.
Another person I advised on this same thing took their 10 gallon tank and placed it on it's side, put sand, their hidey and food and water and in the morning the crab was there!

Good luck! Next time get a solid lid and then it will not get out.

They can get into cracks and under things too. They are more active at night. Hopefully it was in the house and she will find it tonight when it starts moving around. Good luck.

He may have moved out of that shell and found something else he has decided is more homey. You need to find him fast because if you don't he will die and the smell isn't exactly pleasant.
