put all 15 number balls in the triangle, the eight should be in the middle facing the end of the table the triangle is pointing to, your outside triangle of balls should alternate, solids, stripes, in no particular order (to my knowledge anyway) place the end of the triangle about between the first and second dots on the side of the table and play!!!

if you're playing 8 ball the eight should be in the middle, if you're playing 9 ball the nine should be in the middle. and if you don't know the rules i suggest to google it.
