I think, in general, it does--and it works, to some extent, the other way, too.

Perhaps. I suppose if I went around telling myself "OMG, I"m old" all the time, I would then start doing things to prove that correct, like not taking care of myself and acting old, and complaining about being old and all my aches and pains.

I only think it's true to a point, however. The fact is, I AM aging, and no amount of wishful thinking will stop the aging process.

It's like if an ugly person constantly told themself they were gorgeous, how true would it be? They may maximize their potential, but it can only work to a point - they are still ugly. But the psychological benefit is there - if they BELIEVE they are hot, then it doesn't matter what the reality is.

Fortunately, I don't have to worry about it. I'm cute as hell, and look ten years younger than I actually am. Eat your hearts out!

Love, Jack.

No. I have seen many people who are very young but have shown a great deal of maturity. I also have seen a lot of old people who are still very immature. When the mind is old or in other words mature, the flesh does not need to conform. And don't forget, you can always have plastic surgery to hide wrinkles and stuff. HAHA.

The age of the mind and the body is two seperate entity, therefore, the flesh does not conform to the mind, unless it is a decision or an intention to alter ones physical state.

Not really. Anyone can feel old, especially after going through a life altering experience, alone or with others. Their bodies don't age correspondently. Just feels that way. I remember hearing from someone whose many friends had died from AIDS at a young age (relatively): "I feel so old."

But on the other hand, if you believe you are old, then yes, your body "ages" because you're "old." Like i'm seeing people walking around with a cane. They're not old, they just settle back and stop living cause its easier. They may have needed that cane once, but now they are dependent on it because, like i said, its easier. That, however, doesn't change the fact that its all in the mind.

I would think so, yes; however, I disagree that flesh is active in the conformity. The mind directs the flesh. So, if someone decides she or he is old before their time, then they will have ready excuses for not engaging in challenging activities, e.g., exercising, "My muscles are sore because I'm old." or keep from learning new things, e.g., "You can't teach an old dog new tricks". I think the flesh passively responds to the mind's direction.

Ellem: u seem to be in another rhetorical fog. Your premise is ridiculous: i.e. that the mind can declare something separate from the body, since the mind is part of the body. Aging is a universal process for the whole body, including the brain, whose cells tend to die faster than can be replaced as we age.

I guess because you are so young, you don't know much about the subject. Why not just ask your grandparents?

yes, as a man is in his mind so is he.

I experienced that feeling but, I soon snapped of it. When I turned what I thought was the start of old I got to the point where my steps were slow and my actions were slow and my reactions were slow. Then I snapped out of it and I can jump, skip, hop etc... in my 60's I also walk fast and am no longer moving slow or reacting slow...

In reality you are only as young or old as you feel.... don't slow down until you really have to ... like they say use it or lose it!

no , flesh and mind may or may not fallow each other impulses . your mind may be old but it doesn't mean that just because of that your flesh will be too . how old you are is only determined by how u feel and how u act not by your looks . you may look pretty and young , but does that mean u feel the same inside ??? does being the prettiest mean u feel better than anyone ??? . looks are deceiving just like years that pass you by .

perhaps yes, I believe the mind is the orientations of the body, lots of diseases are the declaration of the mind, for different reasons, the mind decides to eliminate the body, why that is the big question.
