A deep, tender, ineffable feeling of affection and solicitude toward a person, such as that arising from kinship, recognition of attractive qualities, or a sense of underlying oneness.
This is the definition of love, I got off of dictionary.com.
Do you think this explain what love really is, or does love go deeper, into the heart?
I would like you to share your opinions with me. Thanks!

I have a boyfriend, and he isn't even close to being as stupid as you.

The definition that dictionary.com provides does not define the love one has for non living things. Example: "He loves that car."
If I were to attempt a definition I would have to say:
It's the emotion aquired when a person places a majority of his/her energy into a person, place, or thing for the purpose of accelerating the spiritual growth of himself/herself and the other person, place, or thing. ie, I love America, I love my wife, I love that motorcycle.
Some people actually mistake love for addiction. If you spend a majority of your energy on your computer then you might say, "I love the internet," however others may say, "man, that person is addicted to the computer."

Love is so much deeper than that. It is not recognition of just the attractive qualities but also accepting the flaws, not just the sense of underlying oneness but the knowledge that with love, sometimes, you can do things better when alone-- love is not just being half and half to make one but also to be one and be able to stand alone, and still feel complete. It is a feeling that is very hard to define, you just have to experience it to know it, but still, you'll find it hard to explain it, that's why when some people fall in love, they sometimes feel lost and oblivious of the world around them except for the apple of their eyes. Love can make you stupid or clever, love can make you low or high, etc, etc. You cannot define love just by looking it up in the dictionary.

I think that is a pretty good definition. There so many different aspects of love. That kind of love is filial or friendly love.
The Greeks defined love essentially in three different ways:
agape--which was love proceeding from the greater being to
lesser being, and not dependent on the response of the
loved object.
phileo - which is pretty much your definition up there, a kind of
brotherly love
and
eros--which of course is sexual love.
Of the three agape is the deepest, because it loves even when hurt by the one it loves, it sacrifices, it never gives up. It's the love of the Letter to the Romans in the New Testament in Chapter 13.
which is, the deepest definition of love I have ever found.

Yes that could define love or it could define friendship. People have struggled for centuries to define love. It is an emotion we have to feel, before we can define it, and even then we lack the words to fully convey what we feel.
Think of friendship on steroids.
Love is being with someone, and feeling like that other person, is your other half. Not your identical other half, different but belonging.
Love is being confident enough in my fiancee's love that I can run about the house naked as a jaybird, having not one dab of makeup on, hair flying in all directions, and not caring that he can see me in such a state :)
Love is reading the Sunday newspaper together over breakfast.
Love is having someone you sleep with, canoodle with, tell secrets to, share your life with.
Love is a warm glow, the same comforting feeling you get from a favorite bathrobe.
Love is togetherness, sharing, helping, wanting the best for the object of your affection.
Love has many guises and forms too. You can love your cat, your family, and your soulmate.
As I said, think friendship on steroids :)
Edit-I was taking a shower when I thought some more on defining love.
Love is not all hearts and flowers. Love means being unselfish, and mature about things.
Love is the power that motivates you to willingly go to his parents house for Christmas without a complaint even if you do not get along with them...Praise God I adore my fiancee's family.
Love is the power that motivates you to learn about sports because he enjoys it...and you think it stupid...Grin, I love The fighting Texas Aggie football team, and my fiancee thinks I'm crazy, but he listens to me when I talk about it. Yes, I have a man who does not like football :)
Love is the power that allows you to cheerfully allow him to go on a weekend fishing expedition with his buddies...or to reptile shows...brrrr...
My favorite is Love is the power which allows you to have dinner with him and his still single exwife. Yes, my late husband and his exwife and I often had dinner together :)

Love is more than a "feeling".
Love is an unswerving commitment.
That definition is simply what you 'feel' in a relationship whether it be with your parents or your spouse for examples. But the real test is where a person goes when times get tough. Then love shows it's colors!

That is more a description of love than a definition.
Love is a neuro-chemical mechanism that evolved to motivate individuals to share resources and protection, thus increasing species survival.
Psychologically, love is when our self-interest directive expands to include someone else.
Love has nothing to do with the heart. The heart pumps blood. Love is in the brain.

There are many different opinions about love and different types of love. For example:
I love my mom
I love my child
i love peanutbutter
I love to take a shower
I love to answer questions
see, different types of love for different things. There is romantic love and there is lust love. Love is what you make of it and it has no ryme or reason.. it just sort of happens.
