It's not that I can't do the work. The curriculum they gave us was not as hard as I thought it would be. But I didn't manage my time wisely. I didn't study enough. And when I left my GPA was below a 2.0. So I'm afraid, I won't be allowed back to a 4 year school, unless I go to community college. I don't want to do that, because I'm afraid that when I transfer, my credits won't transfer.

Choose two 4 year institutions in your state. Write a letter to the registrar, and to a counselor in the dept in which to seek admission; be brief and to the point..more mature now, set goals, GPA suffered earlier not focus..

The University's website or the registrar's office can tell you if they have a "admission under probation", and/or which courses are accepted from other state institutions (Comm College). Easier route: Call the community college in your area and ask them which course work is transferable to school X.
The local community college may have specific course work to transfer to a Liberal arts or other program..so it may be practical to take liberal arts for one semester if that is what it takes...How many credits do you have now? Some of them may be accepted into a major and several factors influence this process: time since you took them, pass policies of the community college, and the availability of transcripts.

Good luck

Short answer: Yes!

Long answer: You obviously realize that you made poor use of your time when you were in college, and that's likely to be a motivator not to waste the money a second time around. I wouldn't snub community college just yet though, many states have guaranteed transfer programs between community colleges and state universities. I never graduated high school -- I was sick of it and just wanted to go to college, but no university would accept a high school droupout. So... I went to community college. After a year or so at CC, the universities had no problem accepting me as a transfer student, and all my credits transferred no problem.

Just talk to an admissions counselor at the university you're interested in and see what they have to say. They'll likely recommend a course of action that will work just fine for you.

Hope this helps.

I am in a similar predicament as you. I graduated in a major that I didn't intend (psychology), but I graduated with a gpa under 2.5. I regret everyday, cuz I partied, drank, and unfocused. But I thank God because I have a rewarding career that I'm advancing in, by going back to school to become a nurse....so....

In other words, anything is possible. Everyone deserves a second chance. The first time, school is a joke, you get in trouble, you are undetermined. Then you realize, that hey, school is really serious. My future is coming and am I ready??? That's when you when you consider school again. I really encourage you to try it again. And really focus. This is your chance to prove yourself. YOU CAN DO IT!!!

I don't see why not. They may have you start out as a freshman again. I would call the admissions office and ask them about it.
