Now I've heard it all. Why can't women have things that are just theirs. Shall we give men our periods too?

I think calling it a postpartum depression is wrong. Firstlt men cant give birth. The depression would mainly be from anxiety about the baby like will they be able to care for it, how much expenses it may require, they are getting old, etc.
Maybe they think they would come second to the baby or that they wont get enough love or maybe they wont be able to love the baby enough.
It would wary from husband to husband and depending on the experience he has had as a father. Therefore, I dont think the term would be appropriate.

we all know that mothers can develop depression and the myriad of reasons behind it but the birth of a child is a major change in both parents life and for some people this can lead to depression. Remember that the dad will suffer similar amounts of lack of sleep, general tiredness, changes to their "freedom" to do as they please, the added responsibility - if the mother is stay at home he will feel the extra pressure of having to provide for both of them, they will feel a loss of attention from their partner as she focuses on their child more.

yeah, i saw that in the paper today. i don't think so. men don't have the hormones that we do that causes postpartum. i think that they do get depressed and starved for attention, but it's not postpartum.
