I just got threatened with slander by my ex. I put, on one of my blogs, info about an STD he had given me, and telling any ladies that had been with him to get checked.. I used his piture he had on his profile and DID NOT use his real name or his locality or phone #. I may be wrong but, I figured since I didnt use all of the other info, which I could have put on, there is nothing that can be done. So should I worry about being sued for slander? Or ignore it?

He gave me HPV. The Dr. didn't want to take a chance on me getting cancer so I had it taken out.

Oh please. Like he could sue you for slander! What an idiot. Tell him to give it his best shot! The truth hurts. Hopefully his dick will fall off before he gets to his attorney's office.

Some cases are winding through the courts for unflattering statements on blogs and websites as of today. So far, courts have ruled that these lawsuits have merit and are being tried. You could be in trouble. I'd investigate with a lawyer and take down your blog until you have some advise.

It is definitely the right thing to do!

You are performing a public service and as long as it is the truth, you are in the clear.

By the way, a picture is worth a thousand words! Just as incriminating as name and address if you were to slander him.

If its true, then its not slander. Slander is using false information to publicly humiliate someone online or in public. If the information is true, then it cant be slander.

I would ignore it.

If the information is truthful (not a rumor or lie or potentially false) then you haven't committed slander ... regardless of anything else.

slander is only a crime if it is made up. the truth is never a crime. and if he knows that he has an std and still has unprotected sex he can be sued for medical bills or worse.

It's not slander if you ask me. You were just taking other people's lives into consideration.

I keep forgetting, is slander malicious, or, is it libel? I'd have told him, fine, but, the papers will get this info from the police blotter, and your goose will really be cooked.

Hmmmm, used his pic huh? Yeah, could be a problem...does the Health department know he is out there spreading disease? Let them know, but delete the pic. That way you help protect the public....and get back at him at the same time. You win-win!
