At what point did it become acceptable to call a person White Trash. As a black man, I find this very offensive!! I always ask people not to say that around me, but some people feel it is okay to call someone that or a redneck because they are white themselves. It is not. It is the same as dropping the N word to a black man, or calling an Asian person a Ch%^... it is never okay. People who are pregidous against one culture will eventually include yours in their hate. Would you let someone call one of your black friends a N'.... no, so why would you let them call a white person it's equivalent??

It is a very offensive term. You must be a very intelligent and compassionate person to not feel some satisfaction from hearing it used on whites. ( I am white) Unfortunately I don't think we will ever come to a place where this kind of thing ends. As long as people feel fear we will cling to what is familiar and fear what is different. As long as there is a class hierarchy there will be looking up to or hating those above or below. Maybe that is why we created heaven, so there would be a perfect place with no hate, too bad only the "good" ones will get in. Maybe if we had more people like Martin Luther King to help guide us, but I do not see anyone like that anywhere. I wished I could believe in God, so I could say God save us all.

Good question! I am from the south, and have a dominant accent proving it. The term *white trash* is totally unacceptable in any shape or form. When using the term, a person is generally catagorizing another person as being useless.

Where I live, the term *redneck* is used quite often. Most people around here have accepted the term as another meaning for *good ol' country folk.* -- UNLESS it has some sort of cuss word in front of it: ie: "Damned Redneck." That's bad.....

However: The one thing people despise here is to be called *Redneck Trailer Trash*.....Yeah, we have a lot of mobile homes around here, and most folks that live in them are really good folks, just short on paying for a $350,000 home....so ya' best not mess with them, or ya' might just gitchaself shot!

I disagree. Maybe you're right, but I disagree. I am white, and I believe there are good black folk, bad black folk. Good asian folk, bad asian folk. Etc., etc. And I believe there are good white folk and bad white folk. I am not gonna cut some lazya$$, worthless, drain-on-society, criminal, ignorant white person some slack. They're white trash to me, I'm calling it what it is.
As for me letting someone call one of my black friends a "N' " as you put it........first off, I am convinced some individuals have earned that moniker....and NONE of them are my friends. I have black friends, but I do not keep any of those variety. If someone calls one of my black friends that, I'M kicking that person's a$$ because it's not true. But if someone calls a black person that that IS a thug that name, I'm not doing a thing.
I'm going to be hard on white trash. I was raised in a poor white environment, but that doesn't mean one has to be trash. You can be white, poor, and honest and respectable. That doesn't make you trash. Crappy character makes you white trash. If you earn that title I'm going to call you that.

Sometimes, ironically, I hear terms like "white trash" or "redneck" used to belittle racist white people. But, I agree that stereotyping is a bad thing across the board. Not everyone who lives in a trailer is a bad person, nor is everyone who lives in a mansion a good person.

i do no longer think of her remark replaced into racist. even nevertheless it replaced into "enjoying the race card" and attempting to physique Obama as "the black candidate" fairly of basically "the qualified candidate". Obama's "widespread white individual" remark replaced into no longer racist the two. even nevertheless it wasn't the best remark to make. i'm able to comprehend why human beings are indignant, yet Obama basically made a generalization and chosen undesirable words. A majority of white human beings could be worried walking with the aid of a ghetto w/ youthful, city black adult men on the streets. it somewhat is the certainty, no count number if human beings decide directly to admit it or no longer.

I agree.....using racial or ethnic slurs are terrible.

I have heard people from all different types of ethnic, race groups using slurs...especially African Americans....many feel it is ok for them to use the N work, but not for anyone else to use it...which in my opinion..seems very disrespectful of themselves and other African Americans.

I have heard people talk disrespectful about African Americans, and other races...and I always remind them, there is "trash..low class...thugs...in every race.

Also, I do not like the way rap music is soooo degrading to women...to me..the majority of rap music is trash.

Chris Rock..uses the N word alot...of course..using the N word..has made him rich..so, I guess that is ok..??

Just my opinion...we all have them.

When you use the term " white trash" you are not including all whites , just the specific ones your talking about. The term n!gger was used against all blacks not just a few.

Thank you, man! I had a racist justify this to me, saying that it didn't matter what color you were, "if you're trash, you're trash." Just hateful. She was a friend and I'd like to think we got that racism thing straight, but when she introduced me to her fiance and I shook his hand, it was stiff like a board and then he wiped it. Okay, buddy. You are right, it is never okay. Who the heck does ANYONE think they are to be so insulting to any of God's friend. I like you man.

I guess it's the same as black people calling each other the "N" word. It's o.k. for them to call one another that but not o.k. if a white person calls them that. Calling names is offensive anyway you look at it. I applaud you for your conscientiousness.
