A truly intelligent person has looked into the abyss, and realized that it is impossible to grasp it all. Therefore, there is a certain respect for the possibility of being wrong, or biased, or ignorant.
Opinions, then, are based on a sea of ever-changing facts, and a wise man is reluctant to walk the plank of certainty.

On the other hand, ignorance is certainly not bliss, but it does give rise to a certain lack of inhibition when it's time to comment on the affairs of the world. The tongue is oiled with the fearlessness that comes with ignorance of the complexities of life. Generalities, biases, prejudices, stereotypes, folklore, heresay: these are all stock-in-trade of the fool, who can't wait for the opportunity to dig a deep hole with a wagging tongue.

I believe Proverbs, written in large part by arguably the most intelligent man that ever lived (Solomon) addresses this issue many, many times. Apparently it has been an ongoing problem.

Because if you're legitimately intelligent you change your mind frequently as new facts present themselves. Most issues that are actually important are extremely complex, and it's a learning curve. 'Flip-flopping' is good, it shows you're open to new ideas and have enough humility to adjust your worldview when you hear something new that challenges your position.

Stupid people get their opinions from other people, or their parents, or TV, or popular sayings, expressions and catchphrases. It's all dogma, they don't question what they hear, and a result of not questioning ideas is thinking those ideas are much firmer, more black and white, than they are.

Because they are also closed minded. They are not smart enough to perceive different views. Often they don't even think for themselves, they just hear the opinion of someone they admire or like and then they will defend that point of view and wont listen to the opinions of others and decide for themselves.

Because it requires intelligence to see that there are always to sides to every story and life isn't black and white there are big grey areas. Circumstance needs to be considered before sprouting off opinions about certain actions and these people can't assimilate that sort of information, they think that just because they believe something that is the way it should be - always.

unintelligent people are often the most opinionated because they are ignorant. they have a limited knowledge base due to their inability and fear to think outside of their personal boxes. the combination of lack of knowledge and fear stunts their growth, thus making them ignorant and rather overly opinionated.

Doesn't that just drive you crazy? OMG! My sister married into a family who don't know up from down. They are loud, obnoxious, and very unintelligent.

Because they really don't know what they are talking about! The sign of a really intelligent person is that he spends less time yapping and more time thinking and pondering...which shows that he/she is analyzing information and delaying his reaction until he really grasps the concept.

Here is a very interesting opinion. Tell me what you think...

Also, here is a really eye-opening documentary about the Israel and US Media Propaganda of the Mideast Crisis. It's 1hr 19mins but is worth every second of it. It contains some graphic violence so don't watch it when your kids are around.

Unintelligent people think that they are intelligent and people have not told them otherwise.

I think no one ever cared enough to tell these people how dumb their opinions really were, so for some reason, these people thought that they were smart and that their words had some sort of meaning - yeah. Thats what happened...and now we have to pay for it. Sucks.

Because they don't know much including that they are opinionated. Is also a cover for their inadequacies. And also what Airboy Hoss says!
