I will leave any company that does not look after one of its best workers. I do not want to work with any company that thinks that procreating is wrong. I work so I can live, I do NOT live to work. Look after number one first.

If the company is cutting everyone back unilaterally or if this move to demote you is due to inferior work performance then you do not have much recourse. If, however, this was done after you mentioned your pregnancy and you feel that this is a case of discrimination, you may have a legitimate case against the company. BUT, the hard realities of life is that it is very difficult for one person to fight a company and come out ahead. It could take years of legal battles and where would that lead you? You have the option of trying to go back to school to further your education, possibly changing fields, looking for an equivalent job at another company, or lying down and taking it.

If you live in the US, there's something called the Pregnancy Discrimination Act (PDA). It's illegal to fire or demote a woman strictly based on her pregnancy. Try to get in writing exactly why it is you are getting a pay cut. If it indicates pregnancy, then you can sue and win. I did this b/c I got fired for being pregnant. They ended up paying me a check for the rest of my pregnancy and for 6 months after!

If that situation happened to me, I would keep my mouth shut, collect evidence that the demotion was directly related to your pregnancy, and then sue them.
Whether it's obvious or not, however, your company will find one shed of truth (you were late 5 minutes one day 3 months ago, for example), and then use it to justify the reason of demotion vs. your pregnancy so they can avoid legal trouble.

If your company knows that you are pregnant then they cannot use that against you. If they have a legit reason then fine but if its because you are pregnant I would call the labour board.
