I was wondering if there had ever been any controversy involved in the past as a result of a scheduling conflict coming up before?

It wouldn't. Those things are considered when making the schedule.

i dont know, but i did read about a cricket match being suspended for two hours so that a rugby game could be played, and then they resumed the cricket game
