Acne & Sweat-

If you think that sweating a lot will clear your glands and will prevent acne, think again. The facts are different. First of all, acne is not a problem of sweat glands. Acne is a problem of sebaceous glands. The more sebum they produce, the chances of getting acne increases. Sweat will only remove more water and some other metabolic products such as urea from the body. Acne and excess sweat have no connection.

I'm speaking totally from what seems logical to me. I believe that sweating is terrible for acne IF you do not wash your skin immediately after sweating. When you sweat, obviously your skin is over heating causing you to sweat. Meaning the pores on your skin are open. Sweat, more than likely, is not clean. And if you do not wash your skin after sweating you will only clog your pores and cause more acne. My guess is that you are showering immediately after running and cleaning your skin really well, while your pores are still open from the workout. Just my opinion.

I'm not sure of the science behind that but acne is caused by bacteria and if you suffer really bad acne the doctor can give you some tablets (antibiotics such as doxycycline) to help. There are also antibacterial soaps such as Gamophen which are really good and can be bought from Chemists and some supermarkets. Keeping the pores clean is important but be careful of fancy cleansers and moistureisers they can damage or burn already sensitive skin.

Sweating can clear the pores but you need to wash your face after you run because if you leave the sweat on your face it can actually make acne worse due to the bacteria

That's interesting, because sweating normally is bad for acne, since it clogs pores! Maybe it's something else you're doing, like drinking lots of water when you run.

Just the opposite if your skin isn't clean. Acne is mostly from clogged pores.
