Soccer.

Many other things come to mind as I think of Italians, including good food, sports cars, passion (in both the negative and the positive manifestations of the emotion), fashion and the knowledge of how to have a good time.

Italians know how to throw a party, in my experience.

On the second question I would suggest doing your best to learn the language. I have heard from Italians who have grown up in North America that the Italian they spoke here is not the same as what is spoken in Italy. Culture is heavily influenced by language. Learn to speak with them and your experience will be richer (and safer).

Question #1: My ex-husband.

Question #2: Visit the Isle of Capri, Elba, Venice, Florence, the Vatican, Rome, Brindisi and Pisa. They have wonderful museums there that I would love to spend time touring. Some advice: Watch out for the men. My daughter, who is 18, went there with her father and men kept trying to take her from him, telling her they could show her a good time. Know some self-defense skills.

Well the first thing that pops into my head would be food. It's pretty awesome in that country that looks like a boot. Secondly, if you're going over there, make sure you're fluent in italian so you don't get ripped off.

Lucky girl! I am so jealous!!!! I don't have too much advice, but carpe diem.......get a digital camera, don't take things for granted just because you see them every day.....create a photojournal on CD-R or DVD to always remember the experience.....make a checklist of 100 experiences to check out all year.....

I think of my French teacher, who was Italian. My advice would be to take a self-defense class before going, just to be safe.

1. Florence, The Renaissance, sculpture, art, the language. The country is beautiful.
2. Be mindful of your surroundings at all times, stay in touch with family members or host so they know where you are at all times, live it up while you are there, and soak in the wonders.

Venice....

The advice: Enjoy yourself and savour every moment. Few people in this world are fortunate enough to experience something as amazing as what you are about to experience.
