Vader is Not from the comic books. The Star Wars Comics came after the movie to capitalize on the movie's success.

i would have to say lex luthor, hes just a normal person but he give some of the most powerfull beings in the univers a really hard time sometimes

hmmm.. tough one. i wanted to go with My ussual top two: Lex Luthor or Dr. Doom. Both are increadibly cunning and intelligent. But the Master of trickery and plotting has to go to Mammon, from SPAWN by Image.
This baddie has tricked and duped more people then anyone can keep count. He engineered an attack on Heaven while the throne was vacated, he set the wheels of Armagedeon into motion, tricked an innocent girl into betraying Spawn and countless other evil deeds.
By far he has had his hands in more events then most other villians can even wish to. Plus he has that classic villian look: White suit, slick hair, goatee, charming smile. He's the whole deal.

So my vote is for Mammon!

Can't help being cheeky..the Greatest Super Villain of all time is the Electricity board, who choose the greatest moment to shutdown power, when there is an interesting cricket match is on.

3. The Joker/King Pin - for killing hundreds of people
2. Onslaught - for killing the majority of the Super Heroes
1. Thanos - for killing billions of creatures/beings/aliens all throughout

Easily Darth Vader....Once was good was swayed and manipulated to the darkside. The most powerfull of his kind. He killed younglings for cryin out loud.
