My favorite to play is Beethoven's Symphony #5, because the part I play (viola) is not really hard and I'm not that great a player, and it's cool to imagine the thousands of people who have played the exact same music. My favorite to listen to changes daily it seems, right now it's probably Dvorak's Cello Concerto (l love the final 8 measures or so).

Ludwig Van B - some of his music seems like the equivalent of classical heavy metal if you know what I mean. Very good for cranking up loud after a stressful day to let out some pent up agression and frustration!

Of course Mozart, he is the trail blazer but make sure you pick CDs properly cause alot of people try and redo them but can't like this one CD during one of the songs the piano was two beats faster than everyone else. And if you want something new John Williams makes a freakin ton of sound tracks he is a master genius of the classical world. But remember try before you buy.
