My mother-in-law pours bleach right into the dish water in the sink. Drives me crazy, I take paper items when we visit. I can't get her to understand what the poison label means on the side of the container!

She owns a dishwasher and has some uncanny idea that bleaching the dishes makes them sterile!

Dr Hazel Parcells developed the "Clorox food bath" 50 (?) years ago and is perfectly safe if directions are followed. It must be Clorox Regular bleach though.

Yes but dilute the bleach 1cup bleach to 1/2 gallon water. It is great for foot odor

Yes, it's safe. Bleach is actually quite non-dangerous to people (if we swallow it, that is). Chlorine is what they use to purify water; in small quantities, it is great for killing germs on food, dishes, etc.
Just rinse the food well before you eat it.
