States to follow? Please support your reasoning. I have a paper due on this and I really don't know how I truly feel about this issue. Maybe you guys can help me out.... Thanks!! Oh, and if you know of any good websites that might help...I would appreciate the addresses....Hope I'm not asking too much! :)

I think it's a state's rights issue. Read the constitution regarding which rights are reserved for the federal government, and which are reserved for the states. There's not actually all that much that the federal government is empowered to do under the constitution.

I don't think states should be able to have their own marijuana laws because it'd make enforcement a nightmare. Let's say "Joe" lives in CA, and takes a cross country trip. He legally has possession of marijuana for medicinal use, but he gets to OK (where hypothetically marijuana is illegal) and gets pulled over for a speeding ticket. Since he's a legal resident of CA, does that mean he can legally retain possession of the marijuana, or since he's in OK do they toss him in the slammer? I think for something like this they need to have one federal standard.

well why dont they ? they do with alcohol and gambling speed limits and fines etc.

all smokes should be illegal, so should alcoholic drinks.
