PeoplePC is dialup thru and thru..they claim that they have 5 times faster but it's not true bandwidth speed, it is a caching program they use to download webpages off of the same site in the background so when you click on a link, it seems to load faster, if you do a straight raw download, you will notice that the speeds don't improve @ all....usually will be between 5-8kb...if the 5X faster was completely true, it still wouldn't be DSL speed (I have reached up to 485k a second) only about the speed of the old ISDN lines.....as recommended above, I'd go with earthlink....if they have service available for DSL in your area that is.

I say that only because very recently, tried to get a friend of mine in So Cal going with DSL. checked several providers including the phone company in her area and her particular neighborhood does not have DSL access yet......

If you truly MUST have faster speed, there is a more expensive route...get a second modem and a second phone line installed....most ISP's have the dual feed option and Windows XP (although not well known at all) will take the feed from both lines dialed in and combine them into one faster feed, not much faster, but it will be faster

PeoplePC is a dialup vendor, they claim speed improvements due to aggressive compression techniques. It is not, to my knowledge, DSL.

You can only use DSL if yiou are within a certain distance from the central station, so it may not be an option.

Check with your phone company, they are the ones who connect the service, no matter who you buy if from.
