LOL.

I think I know where this is going...and it probably doesn't have too much to do with Presidents fighting or always sending the poor.

Because SOAD said so, and we must listen to Serj's wisdom.

I think if you knew what you're talking about, and actually did some research, you'd see that many of our Presidents have served in the military.

Name another president or world leader that fights in a war.

Leaders are there to lead and direct behind the lines.

As for poor people fighting in wars, I've been in two and I'm not poor.

Most presidents have fought in some type of war or were part of the ilitary. Usually by the time they are presidents they are too old to fight. However, I think a lot of people will be offended by your comment that only poor people go to war. That's a crummy stereotype.

Let me ask you this question, do you watch basketball? Let's say its crunchtime, 10 seconds left in the game, the game is dead even, and the coach called for a time-out. The coach told the guys they need to make a 3-point shot. End of the time-out. Game resumes, the point guard made a 3-point just before the buzzer, and they won. Did you see the coach made the basket?

Hint: Coach = President

I think that the President fights the war harder than we citizens do. It is a very hard thing to lead a country that is as divided as we are. What would you have done, just lay over and let the terrorist have a killing spree and not respond. It is the people who do that are criticized. The ones who do nothing wait for the courageous ones to act then they take cheap shots and undermind our right to defend ourselves. To denigh that we are at war is so naieve.

Some have previously(Washington and Eisenhower for instance) but generally they are counted as to important. Sending the poor is a two fer. You lessen the social burden and get rid of possible complainers/future competition. Peace.

No, they do not "always send the poor". Many well-to-do families go into battle just the same as others.

That is a great question. Why do world leaders get to call the shots knowing none of them will die. Look how fast they took Bush away to a bunker when 9/ 11 happened.
To bad these young men who went in the military because they were to poor to go to college. Had to go and die.

AMEN.

I've always been fond of the part in All Quiet on the Western Front when it is suggested that wars should be fought by the rulers of the country wrestling each other in their underwear, or something along those lines.

The President is fighting, in his own way, besides, President Bush is 60 years old, too old to physically fight.
