I consider myself an outsider in these "quarrels", and have a lot of questions about the roll of the US in these, but I'm sure they are not in war with Islam. They think they are fighting the people that attacked them (9/11 and several attacks on Americans around the world before that), but unfortunately they make a lot of problems for people that have nothing to do with these real terrorists. But the guilty ones (Al qaida) are fascist Islam terrorists indeed. No doubt about that. So please don't turn the facts around. The problem is they are not fighting this war the right way to make an end to terrorism. But still that doesn't make them in war with Islam in general. I think this is one of the biggest mis-perceptions in the Middle East and the rest of the Islamic world, and many of the leaders there abuse this argument in populist language to gain support aginst the US. This makes Islam more in war with the US than the other way around. Also Al-Qaida sent a hell of a lot of foreign terrorist warriors to Iraq to make this The Battleground against the Americans and now they bomb about 50 people to death every day on avarage. And these victims are not even American but innocent Iraqi and policemen that just want piece and order in their country.
Still the US strongly supports Israel, but that's because they have a lot of historical ties. Many Islamic countries and movements get funded by Islamics people from around the world too. But if the US hadn't supported Israel then the country maybe even not have existed anymore. Just thought to add this because many Islamic people see the support for Israel also as war on Islam, which is just not true. They just help the Israeli survive.

Because Islam is the reason why September 11, 2001 happened. Many Americans don't want to think about Islam or even talk about it.

I just might be because we have perfectly loyal citizens--both naturalized and born-here and the-family-has-lived-here-for-generations-type citizens--who are Muslims.

We have freedom of religion here. It's written into our Constitution, and no one can change that, no matter how much people like Robertson and Falwell complain that this is a Christian country and that it should be run according to a Christian interpretation of the laws.

That means that you can legally be any sort of Christian, Jew, Muslim, Buddhist, Hindu, Pagan, Satanist, other religion--or even a secular humanist (i.e., follow no religion at all)--and it's protected by our Constitution.

What is NOT protected by the Constitution is violence that is done in the name of whatever your religion is. That means that you can't go around blowing up abortion clinics in the name of Christianity, and you can't go around blowing up various locales in the USA on "general principles" in the name of Islam. IOW, it's the actions done in the name of ones religion, not the religion itself, that are illegal.

The reason that people are calling the terrorists "Islamo-Fascists," "Islamists," and the like is because those people are NOT representative of mainstream Islam. The vast majority of Muslims are perfectly peaceful, intelligent, well-educated folks. And they don't like seeing their fellow Muslims behave that way any more than you do: AAMOF, they dislike it even more than you do, because it gives THEM a bad name!

Did you know that the recent airline plot that was stopped in the U.K. was stopped largely because some moderate, peace-loving Muslims ratted out their fellow Muslims--because they don't agree with what the extremists among them have planned?

Let's put this another way. I presume that you're a Christian. If you knew that a fellow Christian was planning to kill a lot of people whom he considered to be "sinners," all in the name of Christianity, wouldn't you rat him out before he could harm anyone and give Christianity a bad name? Well, that's exactly how most Muslims feel.

They do not want to admit the Truth! As evidenced in lots of situations, policies, and the history of America! America seems to be a great country-but if you truly look at it's History from it's beginning until now! America is a country of Great Liers! This is the Truth of America! Why tell the truth now - they have succeeded on their lies and false perceptions for as long as this country has been in existence! Zebra can't change it's stripes! Sadly, neither will the stripes of the 'Good Ole Red, White, and Blue - ever change!

Because most of the Islam followers are normal peace loving people with whom the US has no problem. Why is it that so many are coming to the US if our government is against them?? Look at the foreign aid we give and remember freeing the people in Iraq and Afghanistan from their abuse was not something done from dislike for their religion.

I'm not afraid to say it. We have been at war with Islam for the last 27 years. But, since this country has ADD, we were too dumb realize it before 9/11, and tried instead to treat this war like a series of crimes.

November 1979 -- The American embassy in Tehran, Iran is overrun, and American diplomats are held hostage for 444 days. (American embassy grounds, wherever they are, are considered sovereign American soil, in case you didn't know).

April 1983 -- a large vehicle packed with high explosives was driven into the US Embassy compound in Beirut. 63 killed.

April 1983 -- A large truck heavily laden down with over 2500 pounds of TNT smashed through the main gate of the US Marine Corps headquarters in Beirut. 241 US servicemen are killed.

December 1983 -- truck loaded with explosives is driven into the US Embassy in Kuwait.

September 1984 -- Another van was driven into the gates of the US Embassy in Beirut.

April 1985 -- A bomb explodes in a restaurant frequented by US soldiers in Madrid.

August 1985 -- A Volkswagen loaded with explosives is driven into the main gate of the US Air Force Base at Rhein-Main, 22 are killed.

January 1986 -- A cruise ship, the Achille Lauro is hijacked, and an American in a wheelchair is singled out of the passenger list and executed.

April 1986 -- TWA Flight 840 is bombed. 4 are killed.

December 1988 -- Pan Am Flight 103 over Lockerbie, Scotland, is bombed. 259 are killed.

January 1993 -- Two CIA agents are shot and killed as they enter CIA headquarters in Langley, Virginia.

February 1993 -- A group of terrorists are arrested after a rented van packed with explosives is driven into the underground parking garage of the World Trade Center in New York City. Six people are killed and over 1000 are injured.

November 1995 -- A car bomb explodes at a US military complex in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia killing seven service men and women.

June 1996 -- Another truck bomb explodes only 35 yards from the US military compound in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia. It destroys the Khobar Towers, a US Air Force barracks, killing 19 and injuring over 500.

August 1998 -- Simultaneous attack on two US embassies in Kenya and Tanzania. These attacks were planned with precision. They kill 224 and injure over 4000.

October 2000 -- The USS Cole was docked in the port of Aden, Yemen for refueling on when a small craft pulled along side the ship and exploded, killing 17 US Navy Sailors. (Attacking a US warship is not a crime, BTW, it is considered an act of war).

September 11, 2001 -- 2,973 are killed in the most destructive attacks ever to take place on American soil.

Taken together, these attacks killed 3838 people. And this isn't even a comprehensive list. There are plenty of attacks that aren't listed here because I either forgot them, or haven't heard about them. And let's not forget Daniel Pearl or Lawrence Foley. THEN you must add the unknowns like TWA 800. THEN consider incidents like Mogadishu, which was technically considered a military engagement, even though Al-Qaida was shown to have played a strong role in the incident. Add to that all the attacks on single and small groups of Americans that have been happening continuously for decades all over the world.

When all these atrocities are taken into account, you bet your *** we are at war with Islam!

Afraid? No. It's not true, so why say it? None of the recognized Muslim religious groups has ever declared war on the US. Of course, technically, only a sovereign nation can declare war on another sovereign nation. The Vatican can declare war, but there is no equivalent entity in Islam.

Im american & Im not afraid of saying it....I know we are at war with the islamic people... Reguardless of what people say or think.....We are currently in a Holy War....

The Muslam religion has always been a thorn in the Christians side.....They may say they are peaceful....Thay also tend to blow up easily..... & They defend their actions by saying it's all for Alah.....Alah & GOD...are the same entity...& GOD would prefer not to have his people BLOW UP!

There once was a European ruler that fought the Islamic people....& he knew exactly what to do with them......I say we follow his example....& put'em on a stick!

Because we are not at war with all of Islam. We are at war with the terrorists who follow a radical, fundamentalist form of Islam.

Sorry KL but you wrong. We need people in the government to have the balls to say we are. Show me a war on the planet that is not being being pushed by people of the Islam faith.
