there is this room down in the basement of my house but it's locked, and i really, really want to find out what's inside it. I have a feeling it's my mom's old stuff that my dad his when she died, and my dad has forbidden me to go inside...if it is her stuff i really think i have a right to see it so could anybody just tell me how to pick a lock?? i have absolutely no clue and no mean answers ok thank you so much

i honestly don't care what my dad will think (we've been pretty distant lately) just please tell me. it's like all my mom's stuff disappeared and if it really is there it would be nice to see it again

There are various ways depending upon what kind of lock it is, however I would recommend not using any of them unless you're a pro at it. Picking locks can ofter damage the lock itself so that the actual key will never work in it. Should this happen, your dad would know that someone had tampered with it and then you'd be in more trouble than before. You're obviously forbidden for a reason, and should probably accept it. If it was something you should see, it would not be forbidden to you.
If you truly need to see what's in that room, and don't think your dad will let you under any circumstances, call a locksmith and pay them to pick the lock, it's their job to get into things that are locked.
Also, you could always take an ax to the door. It does leave a bit more evidence, though.

You should talk to your Dad. Tell him you are insanely curious about the contents of that room and, if it is your Mom's stuff, that you feel you are old enough to look at it.
