It depends are how hard your states teaching programs are. I'm from PA, and it's pretty hard to get into and stay and graduate out of the teacher programs, so PA has reciprocity with many other states. Check your states department of education website, and if it has a search locator, type in reciprocity or go to FAQ. Usually if CA has reciprocity with NY(or wherever you want to go), all you have to do to get a license is make sure your Praxis scores meet that states and that you have taken the appropriate Praxis tests to meet that states requirements for the license you want. Good luck.

Answering side question: I heard that in California, because of the lack of teachers, that they let you start teaching before you are completely done with school? That is not the way it is in many other states. Although it varies even between which college you attend. I live in MI and have many relatives who also went to school for teaching, and we all went to different schools, and we all were in the classroom doing observations, etc. at different times. Usually you will be in the classroom during your sophomore year, but only for learning, or requirements needed to be met to pass that class.

That depends on the state. Some states offer reciprical degrees. Other states don't. I got my training in Wisconsin and Illinois took 18 months to process my paperwork.

contained in the wake of No newborn Left in the back of, it is extra and extra difficult for unemployed ability instructors to attain employ with no degree contained in the realm of math, language arts (English,) technological awareness, or social analyze (heritage). you ought to opt to scour your college transcript to work out once you've 5 college classes in anybody of those elements. If no longer, you particularly are rather close--all of us has to take a minimum of two English training, some maths, a technological awareness or 2, and both elements of Western Civ, proper? i ought to point that, if you're a route or 2 shy of the 5 classes in a unmarried area, you're taking ANY college route in a unmarried of those elements to convey the fashion as a lot as 5. (i think it is authentic even to the point that in case you took English a million & English 2 at XYZ college, you ought to nevertheless go on your interior reach community college as a non-matriculated pupil and take English a million&2 for NCLB applications, yet i ought to verify on that previously paying the bill if I were you!) At that aspect, you're "rather qualified" as in accordance to NCLB specs (a minimum of in NJ, yet i'm ninety 9.999% particular it is authentic nationally), and also you may declare truthfuly on your resume that you're "rather qualified in ____." also, you ought to opt to pursue middle college practise credentials, in conserving with once you carried out your instructor practise. If it become interior the perfect 5 years, then nevermind; NCLB ameliorations will make this unwieldy. yet when it turned right into a lengthy time period back, then you actually must be approved for ok-8, yet credentialed for, say, ok-5. if your licensing facilitates middle college, then you actually can likely take inspite of state compentency assessments (in NJ that is the PRAXIS), and away you go. good success! :-)
