That depends on who I am listening to:
Rage Against the Machine, Gotta LOVE the lyrics.
Tool, hard one, but music first then study the lyrics.
Jimi Hendrix, Gotta love the music
Korn - The music, they are not pushing any lyrical boundries for me

You get the picture

Well,I think the music is what makes people want to listen to the lyrics..I mean I wouldn't listen to a song that had awesome lyrics but crappy music.Yeah so basically I think that if the music is bad people wont even take the time to hear the lyrics so it's just pointless.

I find that in the greatest songs both the music and the lyrics are great. However, in a general situation I think music appeals to me more.

It really all depends. If it's an upbeat, lets dance kind of song, not so much, but songs that are more mellow and soft, the ones where you really hear the words, I tend to pay attention to the lyrics more. I love lyrics though, so I am always looking for songs I love lyrically no matter what type they are.

depends on the artist. What you need is a good mesh.
There are songs that rely soley on lyrics and have the most generic "music"

Or good music with horrible lyrics.
Like, I like randy rhodes guitar solos, he's like a god, but the lyrics are crap.

However, on the opposite side of the spectrum, i like pearl jam's and pink floyd's lyrics with only the simplistic intruments.
