Yes it is, now some parts of the country are less "color blind" than others but discrimination does exist and anyone who denies it lives in a fantasy land. A shift toward equality continues in America but at a snail's pace. I would hypothesize that much the current NEOCON hysteria is not just about terrorism and protecting our country but that White males with Judeo-Christian backgrounds are being challenged by the concept of equality, in other words their exclusive club is in its final years as evidenced by increasing numbers of Latinos and Asians immigrating to the U.S., let's put our best foot forward and embrace true American ideology that all persons are created equal, it is happening let's just hope the process speeds up.

What would you do, if race determines your success? Are you willing to give up because you are "minority?" Would you blame the majority for your failure?

I would say, if you are minority (term used loosely), you have little more challenge than if you are majority. But the truth is, people who are going to succeed will succeed in any environment. And, people who assumes failure will find a way to fail.

My personal belief is, racially, you are what you are - and you can not change it. You can also not change other people. The only thing you can change is your attitude.

Based on the fact you asked this question, it appear that you are trying to find a reason to explain your failure, when you fail. Or you are trying to say your failure is because of your race - which you cannot change - which removes you from being responsible for your failure.

This is a very wasteful approach.

It is time to rethink your approach.

By the way, I am Asian - which makes me even more minor than "minority."

This works both ways. For years the white race had the lock on success. You had to be a very talented person who could handle bad situations well to succeed if you were black. Now a lot of times, especially in work with the government, a black person can do inferior work, even almost rebel, and sill be secure or promoted over white. Mostly though it still is a white mans world. And that is a black mark against Christianity.

This question is too broad a question, with both the nay and the yea having good points. What I think is our society right now is an intelligent society, each men having their own opinion, beliefs, and prejudice. Equality is too idealistic and will never be achieved, becuase every man have certain thoughts about certain things; we all think differently. While I think the pope is a saint, others will think of him as a methodical, manipulative, devil incarnate. A man must persevere for himself, for his improvement, and not blame his color or his race for his failure.

I wouldn't say race determines your level of success, but rather the need for more perseverence... I would say money would be a greater determining factor, although anyone's success - or lack of it - is in God's determining... He'll bless who he'll bless and He'll curse who He'll curse... That's just the way it is... That's as truthful as it gets as far as I'm concerned...

Out society is unequal. Race is only one factor. If you're black and smart, it's an advantage to be black. If you're black and average, race is a slight disadvantage.

for years i was on America side for it was a dream for anyone of my country to get a visa and leave to America where all are equals. country of freedom, country where all kind of people live together like we watch on TV. American movies were the best...There was this war on Iraq, we said it is unfair to invade all the country but believed that it is America way to fight terror. America bleeding after 9/11. But what i saw in this war of Israel against my country didn't leave any doubt about the intentions of a country which pretend working for peace while is spreading terror everywhere. how could they accept all what happened to a peole living in peace on his own land. Guilty of beeing on the other politic side...

race often determines your level of success but not because of other people but because of how different races act and settle for less than what they are actually capable of.

I believe it's not just about race, ethnicity, etc.. I believe this is, was, and has always been a "Class System" society. We claim we're not, but we really are... it's all about money, and it doesn't matter what color you are.

It was and maybe it still is. But that's changing and in the future we will all be equal in terms of race.
