As shmifty said, unplug it before you open it up.
You won't get a shock. If you want to avoid possibly damaging the computer with static electricity, get yourself an antistatic wristband and clip it to the power supply.

It's not possible to "get" an EMD "from" a computer. But, it's very, very, very possible to ruin computer parts, including the motherboard and processor, from EMD. To keep from having that happen, you have to ground yourself before touching anything inside of your "box". It's actually best to buy a $5 wrist strap, so you're grounded the entire time you're working on your computer.

very slim. if you unplug it before working on it you will be fine. you can still get a slight shock even after it is unplugged. the real danger is to your computer components. just touch a piece of bare metal like on the case somewhere before you start working and you'll be fine. also try not to work on carpet. that can build up static electricity.

there very good use a wrist strap that will help with the discharge it grounds it so it doesnt happen
