iandanielx was on the nail there.

You can do the 2 x pi x r bit because Earth's orbit is almost a circle. But remember no orbits are exactly circular, but are elliptical

A circle is a special ellipse where its focal points are in the same place, and it would be quite unique for any heavenly body to take up such an orbit.

Earth's orbit is so close to circular that you can do the math on it as if it was a circle. You would not be able to do it with Pluto.

Distance = Pi x R x 2

93 Million mile radius x 3.1416 x 2

about 585 million miles

PS Nick S. mentions the ellipse shape that makes up all orbits That callculation would be more accurate, but I didn't want to do the math on it. We are lucky enough to have a slight ellipse, and I think we stay between 92.5 and 94 Million miles from the sun. Fortunate, because getting too much closer or too much farther away c.ould be detrimental to life on earth.

the speed of earth orbiting the sun times 365.25days.by using the SI unit, the answer should be (something)km/s/s.but using this formula is still cannot get an accurate answer because the speed of earth is not the same all of time. when earth is near the sun, earth's speed is become faster because facing a greater gravitational force.besides, there are still have other factor affecting the speed of earth such as heat and etc. thus, it is impossible to get the answer without consider all the factor affecting the speed of earth. sorry for broken English.
