I will admit I am a few years out of date but the basic difference I remember is that in California they have the ultra fantasy land, designed to appeal to children but adults too.

In Florida they not only have the Fantasy land but Epcot center.
The Epcot center is a series of areas that represent different parts of the world. Each have ride attractions but designed around the country it represents. Example would be China, countries in Europe and so on.

There have been many more things added I think sense I was there so can't give a first person account. Universal studios is there but not sure it is part of Disney world. Their park in LA is not even close to Disney but is a very good place to visit.

At the time I went to Florida we planned on taking 3 days to see everything. It took all of that and more and I wore my family out. It may take even longer now.

Both are great for what they do. Do to where the park in California is located I can't imagine there being much more room for expansion but.....

Have fun....

Well, here is a fun statistic. The parking lot at Walt Disney World for the Magic Kingdom alone can house all of Disneyland and California Adventure. Disney World is about double the size of the island of Manhattan. So it is quite larger. Disney World has 4 parks whereas Disneyland has 2. Disney World also has 2 water parks and Pleasure Island.
While Disney World is much larger and has dozens of resorts and other attractions, Disneyland has a special charm that is sometimes hard to find anywhere else. After all, it is the original Disney dream.

These days, attractions at either park are becoming similar. Disneyland is bringing over attractions that could only be found at Disney World in the past. For example, in California, you can now find the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror, It's Tough to Be a Bug 3D show, and the river rapids ride is the exact same basic design layout as the one found at Animal Kingdom (although they both have very different themes).

Either way, you'll have a great time!

Well, since you weren't really asking which is better (Disneyland) I'll explain some of the two theme parks main differences:

Disneyland Reort (DLR) is much smaller, and contains only the Magic Kingdom part of Disneyland while Disney World (WDW) has the Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, MGM Studios, and the Animal Kingdom.

DLR is in the middle of a city, therefore, more accesible, and WDW is on a huge property that requires a lot of transportation which is difficult with small children. It is much easier (just within a couple hundred feet of one another) to get from Disneyland Park to Disney's California Adventure.

DLR is much more historic, and is a great place to learn about what makes Disney different. I have found in my experience that DLR is much cleaner, as well. WDW is much more of a show, more lights less substance.

DLR is more fast paced (I know it sounds crazy), but you usually spend less time there, and end up falling in love with the rides, and wanting to ride them again and again. WDW is slower so I think it's good for really young children and retired people because there are more shows, and shops at WDW than DLR.

Those are some of the many differences...

Disney World in Florida has more to see and do. There are multiple parks and many more resorts. Disneyland is pretty much landlocked as far as I know. It is on the strip, with tons of businesses all around it. Disney World is it's own entity. All of the parks and Disney reorts are "on the grounds" so there is no one building without Disney permission. For my money, Florida is the way to go. I have gone there 6 times in the last 12 years, and just joined the vacation club. Worth every penny that I have ever spent.

Just Disney...California is dirty and nasty and not as big. Florida's park is huge! I went ot Disney World one year and then Disney Land the next and I don't recommend doing that. You'll be disappointed!

The one in California has the same rides, same names, same attrctions, but they're squished together and are much smaller. In fact, a lot of attractions in the Florida park don't even exist in California.
