When I start my computer, it sounds like my fans are going to fly out of the case, then they slow down and sound more normal, but then while I'm running my computer, they speed up, slow down, and go back and forth and back and forth, especially when a game or high graphic screen saver is being used. Could it be my video card that it making this happen? I have an 256MB nVidia FX 5500. I also have a high proc. speed (3.6 ghz, could that be part of it?) Anyway, I really want to make my fans quieter like most computers where you can barely hear them.

The reason they get louder now and then is that they are controlled by a temperature sensor. When it gets hotter inside the case, they spin faster and get louder.

Your FX 5500 is a hot card, and your 3.6 GhZ is almost certainly one of the hotter processors.

There are fans designed to run more quietly, but be prepared to pay a premium. I keep a box of $12 fans for people who want quiet. A noisy fan might run you $4

Get rubber dampers and reattach to the case. Or buy new fans, and get good ones. I could step you through balancing the blade, but I don't think you want to do that.

You need to clean the inside of your computer with that blow dust computer stuff if that doesn't work you may need to get a new fan for your computer.
