Find an eye cup. If you don't have one, get a small cough syrup portion cup or something small that will fit around your eye.
Fill it with clean water, or Murine, or saline solution.
Put your head down and place the cup over your eye.
Put your head back while holding the cup tightly over your eye so none of the liquid leaks out.
Now blink your eye and roll it around while your eye is open and the water is floating around on your eye to remove the particle.

Do you know what's in your eye? If it's something like an eyelash, no need for the emergency room. if you're not sure what it is and if it's sharp, then it may be worth going to the emergency room. Maybe the cornea is cracked.
You can otherwise simply pull on your eyelid and bring it down over the bottom of your eye, this removes little things stuck in the eye. You can also use one edge of a tissue if you can see what's in your eye and remove it this way. Wash with saline afterwards.

if there is someone around to take a look, confirm that there is something -- there may be nothing, but a sty (a small bump on the upper or lower eye lid) -- sties feel like a rock in your eye but are sometimes hard to see. I use vasocon, and there are other OTC tratments for sties. Otherwise, if there is something that can be observes in your eye (possibly under the top lid, you'll have to gently pull it away) maybe an eyewash could help. Otherwise, lie on your back and let it tear out.

Do Not listen to answer one! Do Not stick anything in your eye!
Try looking in the direction you feel the object,
Then pinch that eyelid and look the other direction.
You can also grasp the affected eyelid and drag it over the other, causing the eyelash on the opposite eyelid to brush it out.
You didn't say what was in your eye, or how it got there.
If you were banging on something that flew into your eye get it checked out by a doctor. Immediately

Make a Q-tip wet, or a piece of tissue, and pull it gently across the eye. It will feel better in about 5 minutes if this gets whatever it is it out.

Use a paper towel edge or twist it and see if you can take it out that way or go to the local hospital or having someone to help you with it

Doctor! Emergency room!
Keep your finger out of it. Cover your eye so you quit moving it and possibly scratching it more.
