A great remedy is to gargle 3-4 times a day with warm salty water. I used to get sore throats a lot, and it was a good pain relief. Put a lot of salt in a small glass of warm water, and gargle. The salt helps to kill the bacteria in your throat.
Also, take ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin) as recommended on the bottle. The anti-inflammatory properties help take the edge off the pain.

Not to be sarcastic, but the only home remedy I can think of is the telephone. Pick it up, call your doctor and tell him you have a throat infection. It could be strep. Isolate your eating and drinking utensils and boil them with a couple caps full of bleach to protect others that may use them.
Strep doesn't always cause pain or fever. It may or may not be strep, but it is an infection.
Call the doctor.

Take an aspirin. Take table salt and put it in a warm glass of water. Gargle with that for a minute or so. And do it every 4 to 6 hours. If it's dinner time... Have chicken soup. Use Honey and lemon for dessert.

Go to the doctor a.s.a.p . My husband had a sore throat and within 12 hours he was diagnosed with epiglottitis. A potentially fatal bacterial infection. Never hurts to just get checked out.

I've had throat troubles once or twice a year for as long as I can remember. The best home remedy and one that always makes me feel better is hot tea with honey.

try manuka (12+ or 20+) honey.. eating it raw (1teaspoon) and let the honey linger on your throat before you swallow..

Manuka has natural antibacterial properties and is said to help cure sore throat.. but do not be fooled and buy manuka blend, because these blends usually do not have the active properties of activated manuka..

In addition, you could try drinking salt water or gargling salt water in your mouth..

hope this helps.. and all the best for recovery..
