I'm a diehard mavericks fan who thinks dirk is way underrated! He is by far the best player on the mavericks team which is sayin somethin cuz the whole mavs team is amazing! Dirk not only can post up under the goal, but take jumpers and is an awesome 3-point shooter! In the all star break he won the 3-point contest beating out Jason Terry and a lot of very good little guards and shooters! But Dirk is also good on defense! he can guard little guards or go under the goal and guard a beast like Shaq. DIRK IS THE BEST PLAYER IN THE NBA! get used to it!

I like Dirk, but here's the deal. There's usually a reason why players are under-rated. Sometimes it because they play in a small market like Denver, and/or their game is quiet yet effective. Players are usually over-rated because they don't deliver when you need them to like in the playoffs. I think Dirk is a little of both. He's under-rated because he doesn't truely get credit for the things he can do as a seven footer, especially that shot. Over-rated because for two years now he hasn't competely gotten then job done. This year better than last year, but here's then point to why he's over-rated. In the last two games of this past series, there were a number of time in which Nash end up gaurding Dirk on switch, and Dirk would pass. With that height, he wouldn't even have to make a move, he could pull-up over him. Especially late in the game. That's the difference between an all-star and a superstar.

Well, if those are the only two choices, I have to say he's overrated. Before this season, I would have said that he was underrated, but he was a MVP candidate all season long, so he obviously isn't underrated anymore. The way he collapsed in the Finals is the reason I'm going to go with overrated.

I'd say dirk nowitzki is underrated. he kind of impressed me in the playoffs of 06. I knew he was good, but not that good. He's one of the best power forwards in the nba.

Someone said that he is underrated. There is no way. He is rated quite well for how he is playing today in the NBA. He has really shown the public he can play the game of basketball. I Believe he is a mighty force in the NBA. Because of him, the Mavericks are contenders for a championship on a yearly basis.

hes underrated in the season cause nobody would talk about him and evryone would talk about kobe(and kobe sucks)
but in the playoffs evrybody thought that he was all great and he took the fame and he started showing off and that made him have more pressure
but the mavs are a good team and they should of won
but they all started giving the ball to nowitzki and he got worn out cause the coach would keep him in the game

underrated....
I can't believe how he acted during the playoffs this year after losing though! I mean come on! Be a role model for kids and learn to control your temper instead of throwing a fit! :(
....still a good player though! ;D

I think dirk is a great player and he is finally getting the respect he deserves..... but his preformance at the finals shows that hes not unstoppable, with the right defense.

i think dirk nowitzki is a very good offensive player...........he needs to work on his defense to become a good all around player, but as for now........he's still one of the best player's in the league because of his versatility.
