It is great if you want to look into mouths and smell nasty breaths all day! LOL. Dentistry is a fun career because there is room for advancement and great salaries are underway! You can even have your own practice and office and that's where the big bucks start rolling in. Make sure your grades are right and that you research on schools. Best wishes!

My son is in his first week of Dental school and he has had to study really hard to get there.It is four years of Dental school,after your four years in community or state college,but worth it in the long run.There are 130 inductees in his class in Maryland, UMB.They have just finished a multi million dollar building for dentistry there,and we are proud of his commitment,and keep focused on this goal.It will happen...
I would like to see those statistics on suicide rate...could be an urban legend in my opinion.If not..I don't think it is something to drill,I mean dwell on..Good Luck!

It all depends on the person. Some people think it is interesting and challenging while others may not think it is very interesting. However, if you are interested in becoming a dentist, learn more about so you can make you own decision.

well dentists actually have the top or second to top highest suicide rates of all careers, but if dentistry is what you like, go for it

I had a cleaning a few weeks ago and the hygienist did nothing but talk, talk and talk. It drove me crazy.
I think it would be a good career.

My dentist seems to enjoy it. I don't know how he stands looking down in the mouth all day, though.

I think it looks gross. I think looking in people's dirty mouths and at their yellow teeth would make me barf. Especially people w/rotting teeth. If you can stomach it - more power to you but I could never do it.
