When you close your eyes & think of "autumn," what comes to mind?

Beautiful countryside, large old trees with brilliant orange, red, yellow and brown leaves. Piles of leaves on the ground, leaves falling, a chill in the air, the smell of smoke from chimneys and big leaf bonfires, people meandering in knit cable sweaters, fireplaces, apples, pears and autumnal fruit, baking bread. I LOVE FALL!

Well, I live in Vermont, so you can imagine. The place I am about to describe actually exists, btw.

I see myself, walking through a forest, the ground dappled with the bright sunlight of mid-day. The air smells of autumn, cold and sweet. It is dying, preparing for winter. Reds and golds and browns and oranges everywhere, as far as the eye can see. A slight breeze ruffles them, and caresses me softly. It is cool, so I shiver slightly with delight and pull my sweater a little closer. The leaves dance through the air, and fall gently down, swirling all around me. Down the dirt trail a little ways are ruins of an ancient monestary, old and decrepit. It has cracks and moss. Here is my sanctuary; my freedom. I am simply me, a part of the great scheme of things. I am life, the wind, I am free.
