Please, no "wet-back" jokes. This is a serious question. I've lived in Southern California for 10 years now, and I've noticed a specific behavioral trait among Latin Americans -- most of them Mexican. When they go swimming in the ocean, they always wear a t-shirt. Women wear it over their bathing suits. Men often wear shorts instead of bathing trunks, then add a t-shirt on top. What's the deal?

It's protection from the sun. Also covers all the unsightly body hair.

Well a few Indians (from India; not native Americans) do it as well. And a lot of Indians look like Hispanics and are mistaken for them as well!
Beacuse culturally they are not used to wearing swiming costumes and show a lot of their body. Also some may feel they donot have that 'perfect' body.
Maybe a swimwear inside a t-shirt is less revealing than lingerie under a t-shirt?

Like Makai, I also dress up at the same time as going right into a pool. I many times bypass with a three piece in structure. In a public pool I continuously positioned on a tie, yet at the same time as entering into my own pool, I many times forego the tie.

Kidding. I have lived in Asia for many years and I can tell you that the more educated they are, the more clothes they wear when they go to the beach. To me, this is not evolution, this is the opposite of it.

well i think its about being comfortable. i mean i live in san diego. and i have seen people of all races doing it. but it tends to be the people that are out of shape. meaning any race

the deal is !! that they are decent people that's all... not all people like showing their bodies... that's normal for me... i don't see anything wrong about it, maybe you are the one that has a problem, not the Mexicans...
