If you had a week, Greece offers the most; two weeks--same answer--it's the most different city in Europe. With a month to work with, you could choose Budapest, Hungary--and be within 12 hours by train of Berlin, Vienna, Kiev, Athens, Paris and just about everywhere else from Western Europe to Istanbul. With only three or four days--got to a major city, take a half-day tour say in London or Rome, and then take one side trip and then see everything you can using the rest of your time. Happy discovering!

If I could go anywhere I would love to visit the Bavarian Alps. This is the part of Germany where my family is from and I think it would be great to see if I could find some long lost relative.
