I KNOW, we slaughter MILLIONS of animals in the US for food. Chickens get electrocuted, get their head chopped off. Cows and pigs get their throats slit while they are conscious of the whole thing for Kosher meat. And all we see are nice, pretty packages of meat at the grocery store. But you don't hear about people holding an animal by the tail to whack it to death with a hammer in western countries. I've heard about foxes being electrocuted with a live wire stuck up their butt, but I've never heard about a goat or a snake being skinned alive in Kentucky or Italy.
What is it about Chinese culture that it's OK to treat animals like that? Is it a religious reason? Buddhism doesn't condone that. Is it OK in Taoism or Confucianism?
Spare me the economic rationale: "That's the only way they can afford to kill an animal, you ignorant American!"
I haven't heard of animals being skinned alive in Bangladesh or Mexico, where they also have animals to slaughter.

Primarily the slaughtering takes place within the Mainland of China, where it is very impoverish and simple there. The dogs they slaughter are wild dogs, as they are abundant and are available. Whereas chicken and cows cost money and take effort to raise... not an easy thing to do when you raise a family and try to make an small earning.
No, it's not culture to go around killing dogs, it's a matter of survival.
So I am sure if you looked hard enough in other impoverish place, like the burros of Mexico, the slums of Bangladesh, the boonies of Southern US, the shantytowns of Africa; you are sure to find "cruel slaughterings" of whatever animal they can find.
Your question contradicts itself. Slitting an animal's throat is not cruel, nor electrocuting it up the butt; whereas smashing an animal on the head with and hammer is?
It's pretty hard to skin an animal alive if you think of it, as its trying to fight and run off on you! I suppose IT'S NOT CRUEL TO CLUB BABY SEALS TO DEATH in the Arctic.. or have you forgotten about that?? Oh don't forget the countless little harmless mice that have there necks snap in mousetraps, and those that survive are left to slowly starve to death. (As not considered cruel).... Regardless it is still an animal that is killed that sould be the real point. The point of your question is completely bias and frivolous.

The world is a violent place for people and even more so for animals. There is a reason. By torture it causes adrelene to run. They feel that way the meat has more power. It is cruel but true. The slaughter houses in America is no picnic ground either. But always remember Comsumers rule Don't buy it and they will quit doing it. As long as people buy drugs and tobacco it will be produced. As long as you eat meat and buy fur coats these atrocies will continue. You can only effert what you do. But if we all did it. It would stop. Be a vegetarian it is healthy and saves the animal you would have eaten. More are doing it everyday. The animals are not fit to eat. They are poisioned with chemicals they can barely stand Chickens are blown up to market in 6 weeks. With growth hormones no wonder Americans are so fat.

i wounder too...i have seen the video of the german shepard who is wagging its tail as the man lifts its leg to start skining it alive ...horrible and the video of the foxes being grabed up by the tail and skined alive not even a blow to the head to knock it out...the probe in the butt is not better it falls out during the shock and has to usually be done seneral times ...it is all so terrible ...i donatte money to reputable org. that i check out intensly and feel spend their donations best ...world wild life fund is one of my favories.....it is crazy how some people think animals do not have feelings b/c they can not say w/ words HEY THIS SUCKS!!!!and jay w... even if they are poor and impovished rhey can at leat knock it on the head to knock it out...and the dog i saw( on 20/20 i think) was domestic german shepard that was friendly and wagging its tail not a wild dog..and they were killing it for the fur not to eat it or feed its "people"...and being shocked several times to be killed.. because the first couple of times did not quiet do it dose not seem humane...the foxes i saw them skining was wiggling and writhing and squeelling and even after all the skinning process was done the animal was breathing and blinking holding it head up a little even!!!real humane!! when a good blow to the head will end all that suffering!!! I DO NOT agree with any animal being killed for fur but i feel it will always be around so i want more laws put in effect for the animals....

Cruelty to animals is cruelty to animals, whether in the USA or China. And whether skinned alive in China or killed in the way you desribe above in the US, it is cruelty - no two ways about it. It has been documented repeatedly that animals often are killed inhumanely in the US, Europe, South Africa, etc. So my opinion is that the human race as a whole has a long way to go when it comes to treating animals humanely.

Because they believe that animals are meant to be eaten. Most people in China are not as rich as the people in America. Americans can afford to own dogs, pay for the vet and buy them all those Burberry leashes and Juicy Couture items for their dog. That doesn't happen in China. When you're starving, you just have to kill it. And people in China eat snakes, rabbits, peacock and many other animals/ reptiles/ birds.

Because they donot treat their people humanely. They throw away baby girls all the time into parks or wherever so they are found and taken to orphanages so foreigners can adopt them cause its shameful to have a girl.
If you want to be taken seriously, stop calling americans ignorant when there is plenty of ignorance to go around. honey they eat dog in India.

Hey that's how the Chinese are. Personally I don't do that but my parents and grandparents did that all the time in China. Also China's laws are different. Women still have little or no power in China.
