I have searched the web and can't find an answer to this .It is not going on in private it's out in the open watching tv and doing this...

if by masterbation you mean dry humping on pillows and the sorth then yes its perfectly normal....even the touching or kinda poking at her vaginal area or lips is normal...they are exploring.....now if shes all n out fingering herslef & getting off on it then you might want to look into that
the fact that she does it in fron tof people shows that in no way is this an act of sexual dievance or shame, she doesnt care that you see cuz to her its not anything to hide...dont chastize her but make it known that ladies do not play w them selves in public, its not polite
and to all the ignorant ppl saying things like she shouldnt know what sex is that young...she doesnt know what sex is to her it just feels good to play w it & its something new & weird on her body so she is exploring, it really has no sexual meaning at this age

Yes my daughter did at 2 years old quite regularly. She said it made her bunny feel good. This is how I knew it was masturbation. We had to teach her that that was not appropriate in front of people. It was a natural thing for her and she had no Idea that it was considered not right but it was for her. So we took out time to let her know it was to be done in private. We councled and used pictures she could understand. She after a few months stopped doing it in front of every one. She is now 22 and it had no adverse effects on her. A righteous Christian woman.

I can't say for sure but it sounds a little young for me. You may want make sure she has not seen or experience something she should not have for her age. It could be perfectly normal, but better safe than sorry. Someone also needs to talk to her about being appropriate/private before she does something like that at school.

Yes, it is normal, even kids younger than her masturbate but they don't do it in the sex way, they just do it because it feels good for them, at that age they don't know what sex it is but they know that when they are touching their privates parts it feels good and that's the only reason why they do it.

I don't think its abnormal or anything. Practically everyone masturbates at one point in their life. In fact, its been noted that even infants do it...its quite normal. Instead of scolding her about it, tell her that she shouldn't be doing in public...be assertive, but at the same time gentle. Tell her that if she really must, she should do it privately. I knew someone that is a teacher and she had a kid that did this and they found out that the child was being sexually abused, and I have heard this more then once, I'm not saying anything it might be someting else so dont report me or ne thing but thats just something ive heard, maybe take them to a psycologist

There is a difference between masturbating and just exploring and she is just exploring her body.I've seen other kids touch themselves,but they're not masturbating,they're just exploring.Kids that you do not orgasm.
