What if David Gilmour joined the band after Jerry died? Comments? Just for fun, create a set list, which can include any musicians (alive or dead)- Dead songs, Floyd songs, anything.

for example...
Estimated Prophet*>Sheep*>Victim or the Crime*>Dark Star*>Time*#. Encore: Yer Blues^. (*with special guests John Coltrane, #with John Coltrane and Eric Dolphy, ^with John Lennon).
or...
Help on the Way>Slipknot!>Echoes>Stella Blue*>Morning Dew*.
Encore:Smotestack Lightning*. (*with special guests Jimi Hendrix and Stevie Ray Vaughn).

I got this idea from another question, http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=Av5FRoHFYVdj577mIzR0uU7sy6IX?qid=20060813095242AAtwvHe

PS- I know that there's no replacement for Jerry. This is just for fun.

Phew!

Errrr....ummmm....OK, yeah.

I guess the challenge would be to have a set list that merges the two bands' work without being too jarring. Here's my effort:

SET LIST: GRATEFUL DEAD TOUR 2007 WITH DAVID GILMOUR

Breathe > The Wheel > Box Of Rain
(Easing in, then picking up the energy a bit)

Cassidy > See Emily Play > Time > Sugar Magnolia > Playin' In The Band > Us & Them
(Getting warmed-up, then bit of a breather)

Bertha > Another Brick In The Wall
(Crowd pleaser just before the break)

INTERVAL (& Illegal Substances Break)

MINI-ACOUSTIC SET:

Wish You Were Here > Ripple > Fearless
(seamless segue between the songs - would be great!)

Franklin's Tower > Young Lust
(uptempo version of FT into YL - let's see some DG fret firework!)

Nobody Home > Brokedown Palace > Goodbye Blue Sky
(taking the mood back down a little)

Dire Wolf > Free Four > Mexicali Blues > Monkey & The Engineer
(just for fun section)

BAND INTRODUCTION

Comfortably Numb > Sing Me Back Home > Touch Of Grey
(Yeah, some singalongs, let's give the audience something)

ENCORE:

Shine On You Crazy Diamond > Beat It On Down The Line
(Surprise Appearances By Syd Barrett & Jerry Garcia)

END OF SHOW (& Illegal Substances Party : )

PS: A cynic might say that the average GD jam goes on way too long without an even more capable soloist than Jerry (i.e. Gilmour) adding more to the length!

PPS: In true Robert de Niro-esque fashion, I hafta insist that Gilmour grows a beard again and puts on 40 lbs.

I saw Grateful Dead several times and a few Jerry Garcia Band shows. During one of the JGB concerts Jerry broke a string during "Lay Down Sally" and it ended up going on forever while he did something about it (the band just kept on playing). I only saw Pink Floyd. Okay I'll list some of my favorite songs I've heard live.

So Glad you Made It (Good opener)
Althea (my daughter's middle name)
Box of Rain (performed by the reverend at my ex's funeral)
Werewolves of London (Brent really had the look to sing this)
Comfortably Numb (favorite PF song)
Touch of Gray (long story about surviving which I associate with
us surviving being stranded 1000 miles from
home in a broken '66 Chevy Van)
Morning Dew (enjoyed it when I saw Long John Baldry do it)
Sugar Magnolia (fun song)
All Along the Watchtower (There must be someway out of
here...maybe the acid trip is really hitting hard...lol)
Stella Blues (a friend played it at my ex's funeral)
It's all Over Now Baby Blue (for an encore)

I can not answer this question, because im not complelty sure about the whole thing. I am only 15 and wasn't around at that time. But I would just like to say that my father was a huge "deadhead" and as a result of that my midde name is Althea... after a Grateful Dead song. I have become proud of it!

(im the daughter of the answerer above me, dellajoy)
so I understand why she is saying those are her fave songs.
