Not necessarily.

I look at groups like Alexisonfire, Fallout Boy, Theory of a Deadman, Panicatthedisco!, Blue October, Nickelback and Mobile, and I see a very heavy metal influence. I forget who sings Miss Murder, but that has a metal edge, too.

It's just evolving.

Areosmith and Bon Jovi have survived the test of time. Just because Motley Crue isn't on the charts, doesn't mean it's not influential.

Don't fall into the marketing trap.

In the words of Billy Joel, "hot punk, cool funk even if it's old junk, it's still rock n' roll to me!"

No. It is just transforming. It must evolve into something else, it is a natural law. None of the musical genres has ever disappeared. You can find traces of symphonic music in heavy metal, for example (see "To Live Is To Die" and other songs). Actually, today, we don't have too many "pure blood" musical genres. They're all emerging into each other.

No, it will never be; it has been around for almost five decades, and been through a lot of negative publicity. Heavy Metal will never die! People will always be in love with the guitar.

It is indeed. It seems like the kids just listen to whatever the radio spoon feeds them, no questions asked. And when you criticize them your labeled as out of touch, or stuck in the past. There is no longer a difference between the rebellious and the status quo.

yea, heavy metals popularity is down couz modern bands suck. rather than making catchy songs they make fast songs, and instead of having hooks they have double bass solos.... bleh.... most the old bands of heavy metal still rock like they used to but this new breed is retarded. metal will never go away but its certainly not at what it once was
