Yes! It will require an overhaul of the way business in government is done. People in government and the public have to be truthful and honest not talk about being truthful and honest. Bring back INTEGRITY to all our lives.America has become a country of profit and special interest before people or positive purpose. Be the change. Peace.

No, the Government will never regain the peoples trust. Most I know never trusted them in the first place. The Government has a long record of telling lies to Americans. That has not changed since Viet Nam. As tax payers we give Airlines the TSA. Airlines sell a product that tax payers pick up the bill for part of the cost, security.
We as tax payers spend $500 billion on defense but can't stop Sept. 11th. even after the Government was told they would attack and use planes. The Iraq war will cost working class tax payers $2 trillion over ten years. Republicans never pay for their own mistakes they shift the taxes to the working class.
You would think that after $600 billion spent on Star Wars that the USA could stop the hand made rockets that go into Israel, we spent about $200 billion on the patriots we sent Israel.

I don't know if the government has had the trust of the people for a very long time. There has been too many things going on that are kept quiet. The public is not that stupid.
Not only do companies get breaks for overseas work, but they don't pay income taxes due to "tax breaks" to try to keep them in the country. It is sick and sad, but big business has the government bent over a barrel, not to mention if the prez pisses off the guys, they will not get more money for election campaigns. That is very sad.

i think it will take a massive change in the way gov't operates and who operates the gov't. right now the gov't is operated by the rich for the rich. if you don't believe me think about this: bush and kerry spent a combined $880 million on their campaigns. that excludes about 99% of the population from ever hoping to be president. i think until we have a true represntative gov't that includes reps from multiple parties and multiple walks of life (not 95% lawyers) this culture of catering to big business will continue.
sadly, made in america is dead. as are the power of the union. because businesses know that they can fire all their employees and ship their businesses overseas and save a ton of money. yet they still charge the same for an inferior product.

The government is full of different individuals..some that are to be trusted, some that are very grimy. It is like the entire planet. It isn't the government at all...Its the people that are in various positions.
Also, before we complain we must be involved. We as a people just sit at home watch tv and complain. If you don;t want to be governed by others then choose to govern yourselves. Otherwise just sit on your butts and take it.

If you turned on your computer and your lights and your TV and flushed your toilet and can write this then you trust your Govt
But I do agree that American workers are being overlooked... but made in America doesn't mean much if parts come from overseas.

Good questions. There are dumb 2ss out there that still are loyal to who they vote for, and they become deaf and blind when everyone knows for the fact their party side of the government screwed up.

No. I don't think anyone who distrusts the government will ever learn to trust them again. They would have to make a lot of changes to gain peoples trust

yeah, all they have to do is have a green party president. No matter what party you are part of you can trust a green, to be part of the green party means you take precautions in order to be 100% free of corruption. I liked my answer best until I saw Johnny C's. That guy is cool.
