I had a strange feeling that Ron Dennis might hire him for a year (until Lewis Hamilton is ready for F1). However, I think Mark Webber was looking for something longer than a year. Flavio has promised Heiki Kovalainen a seat for 2007, so that precluded Webber from going to Renault.
It's no secret that Red Bull isn't overly happy with Christian Klien, so that left an opening for Webber.
The best that Klien can hope for in F1 is a job as a test driver, but there have been rumblings about Red Bull funding a ride for him in the Champ Car series. That, of course, would be a huge step backwards as nobody has returned to Europe lately and into an F1 seat.

I was surprised ( see my previous answers) but it makes sense. Adrian Newey can design winners and Red Bull isn't short of a dollar. Plus they'll either have Ferrari or Renault engines and most of the team is left over from the Jaguar days so he should feel at home. There is talk of Christian going to the Champ Car series for Red Bull - he's still young enough to come back to F1 if they want him in a few years.

Yes - You got many here !

I think he jumped the gun way too soon. He could have waited for Falv to get him to Renault - He could have easily earned that seat along side Fisi and kicked Fisi's rear.

I am sure that there would be many openings later on too. Mc Leran needs another driver - Kimi will leave. May be Falv put him there for 2007, knowing that he could kick Fisi off and get Webbo to Renault in 2008. Load are looking at 2008 to be the new era of F1, prob. with Schums gone and new regulations being finalised.

I would've thought he'd sign with Renault... It made more sense to me!!!

Being team mates with Coulthard in 2007 could prove very beneficial for the Webster!!!
