Idon't want to store it in a way that displays it. I want a functional way that looks good. I would like something like an old ammunition box, but that's too small ... I would also like for it to have space on top to put a lamp/drinks. Any ideas?

I would get 2 or 3 diff size old suitcases, like the old samsonite kind (check Goodwill if you have one) and lay them on top of each other. Blanket is inside, you could put something like a lamp on top , or use as a table.

The truth is you could lay it out under the cushions on your sofa, put it in a zippered pillow cover, or put a cedar chest under your serving table backed up against your sofa.

Try a wooden chest that can double as a coffee table. You can also store books, games, DVDs and other items you don't regularly use in the chest.

store it in an old suitcase and put other linens or maller blankets in smaller suitcases, stack them and use as guest linen storage AND a decorative end table.
Thrift store shop for a trunk youo can incorporate as a coffee table in your decor by painting, staining or decoupaging it.
Put it in a pillow sham and use it to add to pillow pile on bed or sofa.

put it in a vaccum sealed bag. i believe they are called space bags. you hook a vaccum to the bag and it sucks the air out collapsing the bag and squishing the item inside. but when you open the bag back up the item is just like it was before it was in there. very space saving you can slide it under anything till your ready to use it again.
