Is it true that when you get your cartilidge pierced, that if you constantly apply hydrogen peroxide, that it will scar? How do you prevent scarring?
(Should I take it out?!)

There's absolutely no need to take it out. There's also absolutely no need to clean it with hydrogen peroxide. In fact, putting HP on it only dries it up and makes it look like you are preventing infection, but in fact it is just masking it through drying the wound and the skin.

Boil some water, put it in a mug and add one tablespoon of table salt and mix it until it's dissolved in. Let the water cool and then carefully use a Q-Tip to apply it to the piercing. Keep the water/salt mix covered with plastic wrap and only tae it off everytime you need it. This disinfects and softens the wound. Do this twice a day for about 4 weeks. It will not scar as long as you keep this up to avoid infection.

You don't. Any time you poke a hole in your body, there is going to be a scar. The size of the scar will be different depending on where it is and how it is taken care of during the healing process.

Any time you break the skin, there will be a reminder. Think about this especially if you are using plugs to increase the size of the hole in your ear.

I can't wait until this one young man becomes an uncle or a grandfather. I want to hear how he's going to explain the huge, ugly holes in his ear lobes.

your cartilage take about 6 months to a year to heal unlike the lobe which is generally 6 weeks.you should not use peroxide as it dries it our rather than healing it, you need to use antiseptic . you can get that a a salon or drug store.if you take care of it and clean it with antiseptic you should be fine, remember makes sure it is healed completely before you remove it for another earring, otherwise all the hard work will be put to waste......i am a stylist and do piercings in case your wondering......

I dont know about the hydrogen peroxide. But when my cartilage was pierced it didnt scar. Don't use rubbing alchol or alchol wipes to clean your piercing. What will happen is that the metal will fuse to the skin!!!

treat it with care, dont pull on it. my sister got her cartillidge pierced and she said that it takes a long time to heal. if you take it out, the whole is only going to close up.. and you might just have a bump where the hole used to be.
